Budapest, June 18 -- July 3, 2022 The 19th FINA World Championships took place in Budapest, with elite swimmers from around the World competing for the best results. OMEGA, the famous Swiss professional watchmaking brand, started the official timing at the first FINA World Championships in 1973. The official timing of the FINA World Championships is due to Omega's long history in the field of sports timing, especially its long association with the Olympic Games. Since 1932, Omega has honored 30 times as the official timing of the Olympic Games.
Vital timing techniques
Omega not only accurately records their wonderful performance for the athletes, but also continuously develops important timing technology in the field of swimming. Omega's timing equipment is constantly innovated and upgraded over time to ensure the accuracy and credibility of athletes' results, even if the small gap can be accurately recorded. At the 19th FINA World Aquatics Championships held in Budapest, Omega will provide official timing and data processing services for five different water sports, including swimming, diving, water polo, open water swimming and synchronised swimming.
Quantum timer
The age of the mechanical stopwatch is long gone. Omega now uses a quantum timer to time events with resolution up to millionths of a second.
Swimming touch pad
Since 1967, touchpads have become an important and accurate timing device in swimming. In swimming, swimmers can automatically "stop the clock" by applying 1.5-2.5kg pressure to the touchpad at the end of the lane when they reach the end of the race to obtain accurate results.
